What happens when the balance runs low or out?

You get low-balance alerts (SMS/app notification) from the meter. If the balance goes negative, supply can be disconnected automatically — though most DISCOMs do not disconnect at night, on Sundays or on holidays (rules vary by DISCOM). Once you recharge, supply is normally restored automatically with no separate reconnection fee. Full details in our guide: prepaid smart meter disconnection rules →
