Common Gujarat bill calculations
Typical domestic examples for a 2 kW RGP (Residential General Purpose) connection, computed with the same engine as the calculator. Use them as a quick sanity check; your actual bill changes with sub-category, arrears, FPPA, duty and billing-period length.
Complain in this order and keep the complaint number at every step. Skipping a step is the commonest reason a genuine billing complaint is returned unheard.
The CGRF order, or proof the forum missed its deadline
Two deadlines worth knowing. Under the central Electricity Rights of Consumers Rules a grievance should normally be decided within 30 days and in any case within 45. And if the paper you received is an assessment under Section 126 for unauthorised use rather than an ordinary bill, it does not go to the CGRF at all — it is appealed to the Appellate Authority under Section 127, usually within 30 days.
How is the electricity bill calculated in Gujarat?
Gujarat bills combine slab-wise energy charges, a fixed/demand charge per kW (or kVA), a fuel & power purchase adjustment (FPPA) and electricity duty. Use our free calculator to get an itemised provisional bill for your DISCOM.
Which electricity distribution company serves my area in Gujarat?
Gujarat is served by 4 DISCOMs: UGVCL (North Gujarat — Mehsana, Patan, Banaskantha); MGVCL (Central Gujarat — Vadodara, Anand, Kheda); PGVCL (Saurashtra & Kutch — Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh); DGVCL (South Gujarat — Surat, Bharuch, Narmada). Open your DISCOM above for its full tariff and an indicative bill.
What is the cheapest domestic electricity rate in Gujarat?
The lowest domestic energy charge across Gujarat DISCOMs starts at about ₹2.65 per unit (lowest slab), before fixed charges, FPPA and duty. Exact rates depend on your DISCOM and consumption slab.
Where do I complain about a wrong electricity bill in Gujarat?
File first with your DISCOM — UGVCL, MGVCL, PGVCL, DGVCL — or on the 24×7 helpline 1912, and keep the complaint number. If it is not resolved, escalate to your DISCOM's Consumer Grievance Redressal Forum (CGRF) and then to the Electricity Ombudsman, both constituted under GERC regulations. A grievance should normally be decided within 30 days and in any case within 45.
