ℹ️ KERC merged the old domestic slabs into a single flat rate — every unit costs the same. Karnataka bills Electricity Tax as a separate line: Annexure-9 clause 16 of the Tariff Order 2025 sets a payment priority that distinguishes 'Arrears of Electricity Tax' from 'Arrears of Electricity charges', so the tariff is not tax-inclusive. The rate is set by the Karnataka Electricity (Taxation on Consumption) Act rather than by KERC, so it is not in the order; CEA records 9% on the energy charge. BESCOM bills also carry a separate 'FY25 True up Charges' line from May 2026 to Apr 2027, calculated from your FY2024-25 consumption and spread over 12 instalments; it is not a per-unit charge on this bill, so it is not included here. Gruha Jyoti (200 free units/month) applies via the Government Subsidy option.

An optional demand-based tariff exists for sanctioned load above 5 kW and below 150 kW (fixed ₹235/kW at the same energy rate); this page models the standard load-based tariff.
Common Karnataka bill calculations
Typical domestic examples for a 2 kW LT-1 (Domestic / Residential) connection, computed with the same engine as the calculator. Use them as a quick sanity check; your actual bill changes with sub-category, arrears, FPPA, duty and billing-period length.
Complain in this order and keep the complaint number at every step. Skipping a step is the commonest reason a genuine billing complaint is returned unheard.
The CGRF order, or proof the forum missed its deadline
Two deadlines worth knowing. Under the central Electricity Rights of Consumers Rules a grievance should normally be decided within 30 days and in any case within 45. And if the paper you received is an assessment under Section 126 for unauthorised use rather than an ordinary bill, it does not go to the CGRF at all — it is appealed to the Appellate Authority under Section 127, usually within 30 days.

Karnataka bills combine slab-wise energy charges, a fixed/demand charge per kW (or kVA), a fuel & power purchase adjustment (FPPA) and electricity duty. Use our free calculator to get an itemised provisional bill for your DISCOM.
